Athletes in Motion (AIM)

This class is geared toward competetive athletes who could gain from:

  • dance/expression training
  • core strength training
  • added extention and flexibility

In addition to creating AIM classes for the Madison Figure Skating Club, I have worked with the Madison East High School track team, and teenage dancers and soccer players. I am currently developing a program for rowers.

Each AiM class I create is a little different. It is dependent on who is in the class and what their particular issues and goals are. I work directly with the coaches, and I prefer to be able to spend some time observing the person in their sport to see how their bodies move.

I draw from many different sources to tailor a program that fits the needs of the clients. It is really a lot of fun to work with dedicated athletes. If your athletic group would benefit from this kind of cross training, or to find out more what I can do for you, please contact us .

Background:

In 2005, I was approached by several coaches from the Madison Figure Skating Club who asked me to help them them with their clients. A lot of their students had little to no dance training, and yet dance is crucial to a good figure skating program. I was brought in to give the skaters elongated, elegant lines, beautiful arms and hands, performance expressions, and an understanding of how to move to the music. Then we realized we needed to do more with them for their core strength and flexibility.
Thus AiM was born.
