... a Unitarian Universalist and 'Free Thought' Fellowship

Newcomers

Introdcution to our Free Congregation of Sauk County

We are a "welcoming" Unitarian Universalist congregation.

Our programs are presented by a variety of speakers, each bringing a unique point of view to enrich our intellectual understanding, social responsibility and spiritual exploration of the world. If you have suggestions for future programs, please contact the Program committee or a board member.

We are a growing congregation with people from many different communities, so it is very helpful to wear a name badge and introduce yourself to others. Please let the Administrative Coordinator know if you need a name badge. If you play an instrument, have singing ability, or have a skill to offer, please let others know. We are a lay lead congregation which means that at this point in time we have no regular minister. This also means that we take turns volunteering for a variety of tasks required to meet the needs of our congregation, including reading a selection aloud, telling a children's story, performing music, bringing refreshments, leading a discussion or making coffee.

One way to become familiar with other members and friends is by participating in pot luck meals scheduled sporadically throughout the year after services, or by joining a Circle Dinner group, informal potluck gatherings that usually meet in members' homes. Circle Dinner groups are usually formed in January. A sign up sheet is posted on the bulletin board when it is time to form new groups. For more information about Circle Dinners and other activities, see the "How Do I..." notebook found at the back of the Hall. You may also enjoy looking at the photo album of recent events.

We are currently meeting the first through the fourth Sundays of every month, with work days scheduled when fifth Sundays occur. Religious Education classes are offered on the second and fourth Sundays. We have several special events each year:
